About Us – Fundación Metsa Nete

Why We Started – Our Story

Fundación Metsa Nete was born out of a deep concern for our planet and the people who inhabit it. It began in the green lungs of Peru, in Ucayali, where the Shipibo-Konibo community has lived in harmony with the rainforest for generations. We witnessed how deforestation, pollution, and economic inequality disrupted this balance – and we could not stand by and watch. Our “why” is simple: we want to protect nature and culture while enabling sustainable progress.

Who We Are – The People Behind the Mission

We are a team of changemakers, local leaders, and international volunteers who combine their knowledge, experience, and hearts. Our founder brought years of experience in sustainable development, technology, and intercultural collaboration. What makes us unique is that we work with communities, not for them: they lead the way, and we amplify their voices.

Our Journey – From Idea to Impact

What began as a small grassroots initiative has grown into a platform for positive change. We have developed projects in:

  • Environment: reforestation, biodiversity protection, and clean air certifications.
  • Health: promotion of natural medicine and access to preventive care.
  • Education & Technology: training in digital skills, entrepreneurship, and sustainable agriculture.
  • Community Empowerment: support for Indigenous rights and social inclusion.

The road has not always been easy. We have faced bureaucratic hurdles, limited resources, and the impacts of climate change. But every tree planted, every child who gains new knowledge, and every family that lives healthier confirms that we are on the right path.

Mission & Vision – Looking Ahead

Our mission is to promote sustainable development, health, and social justice in Ucayali and beyond. Our vision is a world where communities are self-reliant, nature remains protected, and technology is used for the well-being of both people and the planet.

We work step by step to:

  • Restore ecosystems.
  • Create economic opportunities that are truly sustainable.
  • Connect local knowledge with modern innovations.

Together, we can build a future where the Earth is not exploited, but cared for – for us and for generations to come.
